If OOPS! runs fine under DOS and you move to Windows and have problems, why do you consider it an OOPS! problem and call us rather than considering it a Windows problem and call Microsoft?
ITS A WINDOWS PROBLEM AND IS NOT COVERED UNDER YOUR SUPPORT CONTRACT UNLESS YOU HAVE THE PROGRAM PLUS SUPPORT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MICROSOFT PUTS OUT BUGGY, INFERIOR, UNSTABLE SOFTWARE. IF PEOPLE CONTINUE TO PUT UP WITH THIS KIND OF THING, WHY SHOULD MICROSOFT PUT OUT ANYTHING BETTER???
Windows 2000

Windows 95 Setup (and other Windows ISSUES)
Due to the increasing number of calls we have been receiving from people running Windows xx,
we tested OOPS! under Windows xx and have come up with the following procedures which should
be run in order to get optimal performance running OOPS! under these operating systems.
Windows 95
1. Edit the CONFIG.SYS file to increase or add a line for FILES=
At a Command Prompt, type in: EDIT CONFIG.SYS (ENTER)

FILES=60.

Tech Tip:
Print Screens in Win95
- Make sure under the default printer, properties, details, port settings, that
SPOOL MSDOS PRINT JOBS IS NOT CHECKED
If you change this setting, you MUST REBOOT to get it to apply, it will not set if you hit the apply button.
- Under the OOPS! icon properties, Misc, all the windows shortcut keys are checked.
- In OOPS! you must bring the record up and be in CHANGE MODE. You cannot do a print screen if you have, Previous, Next, Change, Quit menu bar displayed.
- You may have to form feed the print screen.
Tech Tip:
Win95
For users who inadvertantly open more than one session of OOPS! in Windows 95 because one session is open, but minimized -
Go under the Properties for the Shortcut to OOPS!;
Click on the MISC tab;
Uncheck all the Windows shortcut keys except PRTSCR and ALT PRTSCR.
Click on apply the okay.
This will disable the keys within OOPS! so the user cannot minimize the OOPS! window.
Problem:
We are finding that duplicate work order numbers are being automatically assigned to different items. Usuallly, the PM work order numbers are duplicated by regular work orders, but this is not always the case. (This happened on a network with 2 users licensed to run OOPS!)
Solution:
Make sure all other users are out of the OOPS! system when running scheduling and also make sure that there are not two versions of OOPS! open on the machine generating the work orders. We believe this is a Win95 problem; Win95 seems to have a file locking problem.
Problem:
All or part of a print job does not print in Windows 95.
Solution:
Under "my computer, printers, properties"
click on the details tab,
click on Port settings
Uncheck Spool MSDOS Print Jobs.
Tech Tip:

NT Workstations:
On NT Workstations, users can have a profile or login. The user must have admin
rights to their OOPS! for OOPS! to work correctly. If the user does not have admin rights,
clean up will fail as well as
any other function where files are rewritten.
Network OVL or KMan Error. If user gets share violation on krun and is using a token ring,
changing to ethernet may clear up the problem. This may also result in OOPS! running fast.
Printing OOPS! Graphs under Windows (This is a Windows PROBLEM!)
1. Open the Windows paint program, it is usually under your
accessories
tool bar.
2. Go into OOPS! and create and display your graph. If you are making
a
custom graph, make sure you set the background color to white.
3. Once you have the graph display, press print screen.
4. Alt tab to the paint program.
5. In the paint program, click on edit, paste
6. It may prompt "The image in the clipboard is larger than the
bitmap,
Would you like to enlarge the bitmap"
Reply Y
7. It will then paste the graph from OOPS!. If it is a standard
graph,
it will have a black background. To change the background, select
Image,
Invert colors. The black background will change to white.
8. At that point, just select file print and print to the printer of

HP Printing Problems running under Windows
We are providing two links for OOPS! users who are having problems printing through OOPS! with a deskjet printer and have win 95/98.
Step by step instructions are provided. You might want to check this out if you find yourself getting
Windows nondescript "General Protection Fault Error" when printing in OOPS!
HP is to be commended on their detail and useful support information, but the need for a nine (9) page document to troubleshoot Windows errors, indicates just how flaky Windows is. It says alot!
HP Support for Windows 95
HP Support for Windows 98
If you have problems printing from OOPS! on an Okidata under Windows ME try
-
re-installing the Okidata 6e software,
-
setting the emulation to auto mode,
-
installing an HP Laserjet 4 printer (in the Windows ME add a printer function) and setting it as the default printer.
This corrected the problem for one customer and they are now using the Okidata 6e successfully and are switching back
and forth between DOS and Windows programs, with Windows ME, without any problems.
Using any other emulation, or selection of the Okidata 6e as the default printer, resulted in the DOS program printing,
but after printing anything from within a Windows program, the DOS program would again fail to print.
