People often ask us:
The answers are: (1)-No! (2)-Yes! (3)-Yes! (4)-Yes!
While Oz itself runs on eComStation or IBM's OS/2 Warp Operating System, and you will have to have at least one of eComStation or OS/2 machine, you can connect to the Oz machine with any java-enabled browser.
* You can log on and run Oz from any machine on your network using a simple TCP/IP address.
* You can log on and run Oz from your home computer over the Internet.
* You can use Oz's File Export capability to produce data files which can be transferred and imported directly into your Windows or Linux or Apple spreadsheet programs.
* Your Maintenance Personnel can access Oz Work Orders from a computer near the Equipment they are working on, bringing up the Work Order text, drawings, diagrams and spec sheets. They can complete the Work Order and enter the completion information right on the spot.
* Your employees can enter Work Order requests from their own computers, whether they are running eComStation or OS/2 or some other Operating System.
* Management can access the Oz Reports module from their Windows computers to get the latest cost reports, or to view the Budget vs. Actual Performance data. They can even generate the built-in Oz graphs of Costs, Downtime, etc.
* Your sister plants can look at your Inventory without making unnecessary telephone calls. Of course, the whole system is protected by passwords and a versatile security system to prevent unauthorized access.
(Note: This capability requires that you purchase IBM's Desktop On Call; priced at about $50.00, to be loaded on your Oz machine. You do NOT need to purchase this product for your Windows machines).
Look closely at the top of the following image. You will see that Oz is being run on a Netscape browser.
Of course, your performance may vary depending on the type of connection you use. For modem-to-modem over standard lines, it will be a bit choppy, but still acceptable. For DSL or high-speed lines, the performance will be quite good, and for your own company's TCP/IP network connections, performance will be excellent.
If you would like to see this capability in action, we can arrange a live demo for you. Please call us at 1 800 852-8075 and ask for an "Oz on a Browser" demonstration.
"Windows" is a trademark of Microsoft, everybody knows that.
Comprehensive Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for Factories, Industries, Buildings & Grounds, Schools, Hospitals, Laboratories, Municipalities and much more...
Features:
Oz is an enhanced version of our top-rated "Ounce of Prevention System" for DOS, judged #1 by CMMS users in an Industry Week Magazine "Best of the Best" survey.
Technical:
Here are some screen shots for the new system (Code name "Oz").
The actual Oz screens are much better in resolution than they appear here.
Oz has The most powerful, flexible, and easy-to-use scheduling module in the business.
You can schedule jobs:
Oz keeps track of the last Work Order generated by any schedule. With a simple spoken command (or mouse click) you can switch to the Active or Completed Work order for any schedule record.
Similarly, from the Work Order Screen, you can switch to the Schedule record which produced the Work Order. Everything possible has been included to make the management of your Work Orders as convenient as possible.
You can produce presentation-quality graphs of the data right within Oz. You can select a variety of graph styles
You can print the report data, or you can export it to your favorite spreadsheet program.
Click Graph/Area to see another graph showing Labor Hours in "Area" format for PM Jobs only.
Click Graph/Stacked to see another graph of Downtime Hours for PM Jobs.
We believe this is the wrong approach.
It doesn't matter how many standard reports there are. What counts is: Can you get the report you need? What you want, no more, no less?
This can only be done with a good Ad Hoc reporting module.
OOPS! has a very good Ad Hoc module. Our users tell us often how valuable the information is, exactly WHAT THEY WANTED!
We have taken the OOPS! Ad Hoc report module, and enhanced it significantly for Oz. We've added our own natural-language parser to the database fields, so now you can get your Ad Hoc reports with simple, natural-language queries. It is truly information for the twenty-first century.
You can even use the Ad Hoc Control Console to command your Oz system. For example, you can say "I want to work on the Parts Inventory," and the Parts module opens for execution.
Click Results to see the results of a query.
For example, there are 2 Work Order Numbers, one is the Oz internal number, and the other is for your own use.
Work Orders may include Equipment data, which is automatically pulled over from the Equipment file when you do a lookup. Even Equipment Custom fields may be pulled automatically.
As for Custom fields, you now have 12 per Work Order instead of the original 4. You can choose to print any or all of these on an individual job-by-job basis.
Click Equipment Data to see Work Order Equipment Data.
Job data:
You can build a collection of Job Codes which you can "pop up" to save typing. Selecting one of these codes automatically fills the Instructions. These Codes can also be used for a detailed Failure Analysis of your non-PM Jobs.
You can also dictate the Instructions. Imagine saying "Computer. Inspect the hoses. Check for leaks and cracks. Replace if necessary."
No kidding, this really works in Oz.
As in OOPS!, Oz provides for additional Instructions, formerly called "Supplement Sheets." Now they are called "Work Order Sheets." These Sheets can be:
Plain text files (continued if necessary)
Word processor files
Drawings
Recordings of Sound
Graphics
Images
Movies
etc.
Completion Data:
No more limits on Labor, Parts and Tools! You can have an arbitrary number of resources attached to a given Work order.
You can enter the Parts used here on the completion screen. You can also enter them directly at the parts Storeroom. For example, your maintenance employee can take the Work Order (which can have a printed bar-code symbol on it) to the parts room. The Storeroom clerk can scan the Work Order, then scan the part bar-code and enter it right there.
Of course, Oz provides fast and easy lookups of Parts, Labor, Tools and ALL other information which appears on the Work Order. Your Maintenance people can save much typing time. They can devote their energies to keeping your Plant or Facility up and running rather than entering data into a computer.
Click Completion Screen to see some of the Work Order Completion Screen.
From Requisitions, the Purchasing Agent can select the Vendor from the file. If necessary, the latest prices can be obtained directly from the Vendor's catalog or Web pages simply by speaking the command "Connect." Old-fashioned, twentieth-century Buyers can accomplish the same thing with a single mouse-click.
You can split the requisitioned number of parts between multiple Vendors and Suppliers.
It is also easy to order non-stock Parts.
For smaller companies, it is also possible to order Parts directly, without the intermediate Requisition step.
The system maintains Vendor's Standing PO Numbers and the current Release Number.
You can opt to allow Oz. to generate PO Numbers automatically, with a specified Prefix and Suffix.
Or you can choose to use your own PO Numbers.
Purchase Orders can be printed, faxed, e-mailed or transferred to the Vendor through EDI methods. We have built in hooks for ~Customizing~ EDI methods especially for you.
We can also Customize Purchase Order print-outs for you. An optional module will allow you to customize the PO forms yourself.
On-screen reviews give your Buyers access to historical Purchasing and Receiving Information with a simple, spoken "Review ..." command, or an old-fashioned mouse-click.
The Database Manager we chose for Oz. is PostgreSQL. We chose PostgreSQL because of its unparalleled performance, reliability, flexibility and security.
We chose eComStation and OS/2 because it keeps running all day, all week, all month. It's not down when you need it most. eComStation is truly a mission critical Operating System.
The combination of eComStation and PostgreSQL proves itself day after day by our many users.
If you are satisfied running with the pack, then by all means choose a Microsoft Windows CMMS. There are hundreds of them. But if you want a Gold-medal winner, consider the best. Consider Oz.
You can receive non-stock parts.
You can receive non-PO items.
You can generate and print labels for received parts.
You can return damaged items.
Oz. keeps track of all this receiving data. You can generate double-entry Accounting files to make credit and debit entries for your books.
As with all Oz. modules, the functions you need are there on the screen. No need to close one module down, open another to perform an inquiry, then close it and open the first. With Oz., it's all there waiting for your command.
You can bring up several vendors on-screen to compare which has the best delivery performance, which has the least returns, etc.
For your convenience, Oz. will allow you to set the current year's budget values to last year's actuals with a factor.
Thus, if you expect this year's maintenance costs to be less than last year, you simply enter a factor, say 0.90 and click a button.
You can make adjustments on an item-by-item basis to fine-tune your budget details.
This means simply that you can run many things at once without worrying, without wasting time opening and closing screens and windows.
The eComStation operating system handles all your tasks, switching between them in milliseconds, sharing the processor as your needs demand.
In fact, you can switch back and forth between tasks by speaking. Say "Switch to Parts," or "Switch to Labor" and the correct window appears on top.
For example, you can compare one part's usage and cost with another.
You can compare three pieces of equipment for work performed and costs.
You can compare employee's hours worked.
Oz. stores this data on a yearly basis and maintains it automatically.
All buttons, captions, messages and menus can be translated into your native language.
In fact, we are seeking partners in countries other than the USA. If you are interested in working with us to distribute Oz. in your homeland, please let us know.
Due to the connectivity of IBM's Database, it is possible to store the data on a central computer in England, with users in France, Germany or the USA. Each user can access the same data in his own native language.
We can show you an example of Oz. in Portuguese. Please forgive us if we have used the wrong term. Also, we do not have a Portuguese keyboard, so some of the words are not quite correct.
The term "Handle" is meant to be a nickname, or short-hand reference to the data record.
Perhaps Roberto, you can help us where we didn't use the right word. Your English is much better than our Portuguese.
Vendors
The new Vendor Screen contains all the data in the old screen, plus several new items, including:
Web Page
EDI Method
Automatic Dial, Hangup and Connect features
Click Vendor Screen to see a screen shot of the Vendor Screen.
This greatly enhances Oz. security features.
It may be difficult to see these fields on your screen, since they are greyed out to prevent unauthorized access.
Tools cost money to operate and service.
Oz. keeps a record of the tools you used, when, and how much they cost.
For example, the screen shows how you can search the Labor file for all employees in the
Click Search to see a screen shot.
Simply click a button or speak "Find low items" on the parts screen, and the program searches and displays those items which are below the re-order point.
You can easily narrow the search, for example, to find all the bearings which are low, or the filters, etc., or to find all those low parts which cost more than $50.
Oz. calculates the Suggested Order Quantity based on the On-hand, Maximum, Minimum and re-order point. You can override this suggested quantity.
You can make one-time orders, even if the parts are not low.
The computer gives you the amount the items will cost and the Vendor from whom they will be purchased. You can change these as you wish.
Click a button, or speak "Requisition Part" and the requisition is made. You can, of course, reverse it, or add to it, or change it as you wish.
The Requisition process can be by-passed and the Part can be purchased directly as well, provided the user has access to the Purchasing system.
Oz. has a wealth of customizable Requisition/Purchasing options, which you can control on each individual Part.
You can also Requisition or Purchase non-stock items just by typing the order information directly.
Oz. has three labor rates for each employee. When assigning labor to a Work Order, you will be able to specify labor at Rate 1, 2 or 3. Typically, you will use Rate 1 for standard time, Rate 2 for Overtime and Rate 3 for double-time.
You can also search the labor file to determine who has more than 5 Vacation days left, or who has been sick more than 10 days.
In the "Hours" portion of the labor screen, you can get a month-by-month breakdown of the hours worked.
The help files are pure ASCII Text files. You can change them yourself.
They can be translated into languages other than English.
This calculator has a memory which can be set to the foreign monetary conversion factor.
Thus, when entering prices, the user can enter the listed (foreign) price, then "times" and "recall" to get the memory factor.
The result will be calculated and entered in the price field automatically.
You can select dates with your mouse, or keyboard.
Or you can simply speak the date, "January 6, 1999" or say "Yesterday"
You can make the Oz. screens whatever colors you want.
The system comes with several built-in color "schemes" which you can select as the mood strikes you.
You can, of course, modify these schemes to suit yourself. Or you can design your own schemes.
The color program is 100% speech-aware. You just speak "Rainy Monday," or "Fighting Irish" to select your color scheme
connection to Vendors, Vendor's Web Pages
the ability to keep track of the Equipment's Components or sub-assemblies
enhanced Parts List
Oz. has an entirely new label system.
No longer do you have to write text-based label forms.
Now you can simply capture fields from your Parts, Vendors, Equipment, etc., screens, and place them on your labels.
You can include custom text on the labels by enclosing the words in quotes.
You can print a variety of label formats, 1-up, 2-up, 3-up, etc., in a variety of fonts, sizes and number of data lines.
Oz. comes with a number of standard label forms.
As our users request them, we will produce new label forms and make them available here on our website.
We also pioneered the concept of "customizable" lookups.
Oz. takes these concepts to the next level. Our new lookups, of course, help you find what you want. But they also can call up our "Voice Calculator," our "Voice Calendar," or even switch you to the Internet to view a Vendor's Home Page.
more alternate vendors
expanded "Where Used" features

New Features added in Ver. 1.01
The Parts Clerk can swipe the Bar Code symbol on the Work Order and the Bar Code symbol on the Part label.
The Parts Clerk can manually enter the quantity of each part.
The Bar Code device then can download a text file to the \Oz\BCFiles folder at the end of the day.
You can run the "Process Bar Code Files" program whenever you wish. At this time, the Parts Inventory will be reduced by the quantity of each Part used.
Also, the Parts will be automatically attached to the Work Order, so the task of WO Completion becomes almost painless.
Note: The format of the Bar Code files is customizable in the Oz "Preferences" section.
Also, you will have to purchase your own Bar Code Font and install it using the eComStation or OS/2 Version 4.0 or higher. Font Palette. Any Bar Code font which eComStation or OS/2 can handle is acceptable. We can customize the Work Order printout for you to use your special Bar Code font.
When you specify a WO Number, all the information concerning the Equipment is filled in automatically for you.
Parts requested this way are reduced from Inventory instantly, and the Parts are automatically added to the "Parts" section of the completed WO. This makes the WO Completion process significantly easier.
There are 4 Varieties of reports:
That gives 20 different report templates.
Each report can be sorted by any combination of 4 of the following fields:
Job Handle Component
Our WO Number Primary Skill
Equipment Handle Job Category
Building Requestor
Floor Crew
Room Supervisor
Equipment ID Manager
Cell PM/non-PM
System Job Code
Charge Number
PLUS 12 CUSTOM Fields of your choice!!!
You can choose these any way you want, left-to-right on the report.
That gives a total of 31 different fields you can specify to sort by.
You can use the convenient Expression Builder to select and arrange these fields with a few clicks of your mouse.
So the total number of possible Cost Reports is 20 times the combination of 31 fields taken 4 at a time, or
No other CMMS on the market gives you such reporting power.
