You might want to print the diagram so you can review the following discussion of its features.

Schedule

Preventive Maintenance (PM) jobs are specified here, with instructions, dates, schedule parameters (weekly, monthly, etc.), and all the details necessary to specify each task which is to be performed.

Active Work Orders

Periodically, you will generate PM Work Orders from your PM Schedule. Oz automatically updates the next scheduled dates according to your parameters.

You can also generate non-PM Work Orders, such as service requests, emergency jobs, one-time repairs, etc., and enter them as Active Work Orders.

You can print Work Orders, which may include detailed checklists, as well as drawings and diagrams, and distribute them to your Supervisors and maintenance crews.

You can also produce backlog reports, supervisor's reports, projected downtime reports and required resources (Labor, Parts and Tools) reports.

Completed Work Orders

When jobs are finished, you enter detailed remarks about the finished task, labor hours for each employee who worked on the job, parts used and tools used. These resources are assigned to the completed Work Order and affect the cost calculation for the job.

This information is used to provide detailed Equipment History, a vast variety of Cost Reports, Downtime analysis and Budget/Variance reports.

Completing a job automatically reduces the on-hand supply of parts used.

Inventory

A well-organized Parts Inventory is essential for a truly professional maintenance shop. Oz provides the perfect tool to help you keep your Inventory organized.

Low Stock analyses tell you which parts you need. You can requisition or purchase these parts very simply and easily.

Oz can generate intermediate Purchase Requisitions or Purchase Orders, keeping track of the requisitioned and ordered quantity of all your parts.

You can print Purchase Orders on your own printer. You can send requisition data to other departments for the actual purchase. Or we can program sophisticated EDI purchasing methods for you on a custom basis.

When parts come in, you can enter full, partial, or over-receipts. You can also enter return information for damaged or defective parts received. New cost information updates the last cost on a cost-averaging basis. Oz stores a complete history of your receipts which can give you historical purchasing and receiving data.

At physical inventory time, Oz helps here too! It prints worksheets to help you count your parts, and records any discrepancies from the computer-stored on hand values. This can discourage part theft and misplacement, helping your company's bottom line.

Of course, Oz is fully barcode interfaced (see below for details)

Management Information

Oz comes with 108 built-in Standard Reports which you can modify and fine tune to suit your needs. The flexible reporting format provides almost unlimited reporting capability. For example, there are 629,300 different cost reports you can produce!

You can also produce custom or Ad Hoc reports for those unusual questions which your boss needs to have answers for ... NOW!

You can graph your downtime, labor and cost data for easy-to-interpret high-level analysis.

Although Oz contains all the reports you will ever need, you can export the data to others for import into spreadsheets, databases and other computer tools. You can even e-mail the reports to your associates, or use the Internet to access them in HTML format.

Customize

To paraphrase a poem, "maintenance is maintenance is maintenance ...," but every shop is different. You use different terminology to refer to your equipment, your jobs and so on.

Every item on every Oz screen and report is customizable. You can use the terminology you are familiar with everyday. Even the "help" is customizable.

Furthermore, you can translate Oz into languages other than English.

Oz comes with built-in customizability. If you have special requirements, we can program these directly for you.

Ease of Use

Every software developer believes his program is easy-to-use.

The first thing you will notice about Oz is the consistent user interface. All the screens have the same "look and feel." This means you have to learn only one interface and apply it throughout the whole Oz system.

We were able to achieve this consistency because we designed and built Oz completely from scratch based on our top-rated OOPS! program. We didn't simply "convert" OOPS! to make Oz, we rebuilt it for today's new graphical user interfaces.

You can set up "lookup" windows on every field in Oz. This saves much typing and reduces data entry errors.

Powerful searching features make the computer work for you (not the other way around) when you have to find your data. Any field, or any combination of fields can be used in a data search. You do not have to memorize codes or keys or other esoteric things to find what you're looking for. This will save you much time when you are seeking special data.

As for your data, you can build all your information "on the fly." For example, when entering data for a part, you can create the Preferred Vendor's information right from the Parts screen. You don't have to close the Parts program, open the Vendors program, enter the Vendor information, then close and return to Parts. ALL Oz data which is interconnected can be entered in this "on the fly" manner. This will make your task of data building, which can take years or months with other CMMS programs, fast and easy.

Oz is a true 32-bit multi-tasking system. Do not be misled by other products which claim to be multi-tasking. Many believe that systems based on Microsoft Windows (Trademark of Microsoft Corp.) are not true multi-tasking systems. We agree with this belief. True multi-tasking means you can be running several programs at once, with no jerkiness or lack of response.

Oz is the only CMMS which we are aware of, which was designed to be controlled one hundred percent by human speech. Once you see how easy and fast it is to command your computer with your voice, you will never want to use your mouse again. The act of picking up the mouse, moving it, putting it down to type in your data, then picking it up again, is repetitive, boring and time-consuming. Oz's Speech control eliminates all of this time-wasting effort.

Oz recognizes your voice with a minimum of training. It will also recognize your co-worker's spoken commands with little or no training at all.

We have found Reliabilityweb.com an excellent source of information relating to the maintenance field. If you get a chance, check them out!

We know we've lost customers because we have "taken the road less traveled" If it was all about money, we would have "followed the crowd". So, why do we offer an alternative to all of the microsoft Windows CMMSs on the market?

Security is one reason. As long as Microsoft has a monopoly, there will be major security problems. We recently came across an article that says it better than we can:

By the way, thank you to all of the forward-minded individuals and companies who realize and appreciate the benefits of having an alternative solution. We will do our utmost to make sure you don't ever have to regret your confidence in us and our products. Planning

Planning, planning, planning is the key to successful operation. The information you built in your Schedule provides an excellent means for you to plan long-term (a year) or short-term (one or more months). You can see your resource requirements at a glance. As with all Oz functions, the Planning capability is completely customizable for your own needs.

Summary

Oz was designed and built for YOU, to help with your maintenance management needs and to provide the information YOU depend on to keep your equipment up and running.

Try Oz through the Internet. Just give us a call to set it up. See if you don't agree that Oz is the best CMMS available, bar none. We know you will like it. We know you will use it. We know Oz will become a familiar, trustworthy friend in your maintenance department.

What's New

From any machine on your ethernet network, you can access Oz to:

Attention: Windows users - You will now have the ability to access the Oz turnkey sytstem from your Windows computers. This will allow you not only to connect to the Oz machine(s) but actually interact with the Oz database from remote locations.

In Oz, you can generate your reports in HTML and automatically open your browser for display of these reports. With your reports in HTML format, they can easily be printed or forwarded to management.

You can also get work requests for Oz through e-mail. This is especially useful for building and facility managers who get requests from tenants, and other personnel in schools, hospitals or other facilities. Once a request is received, it can automatically generate a work order or can be reviewed by the Maintenance Manager and then turned into a Work Order, or not, at the manager's discretion. An acknowledgement of the e-mail, with the date and time of receipt, is automatically generated and sent to the sender.

There is built-in spam control.

"The world needs more people who do not have a price at which they can be bought; who do not borrow from integrity to pay for expediency; whose handshake is an ironclad contract; who are not afraid of risk; who are honest in small matters as they are in large ones; whose ambitions are big enough to include others; who know how to win with grace and lose with dignity; who still have friends they made twenty years ago; who are not afraid to go against the grain of popular opinion and do not believe in "consensus"; who are occasionally wrong and always willing to admit it. In short, the world needs leaders."

-Richard Forno
